Professor Simon Bright

We are saddened to have learnt of the death of Professor Simon Bright, a former member of the Rank Prize Nutrition Committee.

Simon was an undergraduate and postgraduate student at Cambridge and took up a position as a research scientist at Rothamsted Experimental Station (now Rothamsted Research) in 1974. After 12 years he moved to senior management positions in the plant biotechnology industry (Syngenta), where he developed strong interactions with public sector laboratories (notably the John Innes Institute), and at Horticultural Research International (Wellesbourne). This wide experience, together with his committee work for BBSRC, provided an excellent background for his contributions to the Rank Prize Nutrition Committee.

Simon joined the Nutrition Committee in 2009 and served on the Committee for over ten years.
