Professor Anna Peacock FREng, FIEEE, FOSA, FInstP, FHEA

Anna Peacock is a Professor of Photonics and Deputy Director of the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC), University of Southampton (UK).  She obtained her BSc and MSc in Physics from The University of Auckland (New Zealand), before moving to the ORC to undertake a PhD in Nonlinear Fibre Optics. Her research is focused on developing novel semiconductor waveguides, both fibre and planar technologies, for use in nonlinear optical applications. Her work covers aspects of materials optimization, waveguide design, nonlinear propagation dynamics, ultrafast optics, and she collaborates widely with end users of her research.

Anna is committed to photonics education, having served as the Deputy Head of School for Education for the ORC and the VP for Professional & Technical Development for the IEEE Photonics Society. She also works closely with many leading societies to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion within the photonics community.

Anna is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng), the IEEE Photonics Society (FIEEE), Optica (FOSA), the Institute of Physics (FInstP), and the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
