Professor Anya Hulbert and Professor Martin Dawson join Optoelectronics Committee

We are pleased to welcome two new members to our Optoelectronics Committee: Professor Anya Hulbert MD PhD and Professor Martin Dawson FInsP FOSA FIEEE FRSE.

Anya is Professor of Visual Neuroscience, Director of the Centre for Translational Systems Neuroscience and Dean of Advancement at Newcastle University. Her research focuses on human colour vision, with applications in digital imaging and novel lighting technologies. She is active in the public understanding of science, former Chairman of the Colour Group (GB) and Scientist Trustee of the National Gallery.

Martin is Professor and Director of Research at the University of Strathclyde’s Institute of Photonics (IoP), which he helped establish 25 years ago. He is also, since 2012, the Head and Scientific Director of the Fraunhofer Centre for Applied Photonics, the UK’s first Fraunhofer centre which is co-located within the IoP. He is best known for his pioneering contributions to gallium nitride micro-LEDs (a new form of electronic visual display technology), optically pumped semiconductor lasers and diamond photonics.
