First Lord Selborne Scholar in Optoelectronics announced
Optoelectronics
We are delighted to announce that Sirui Liu (University of Oxford) is the first Lord Selborne Scholar in Optoelectronics.
The Lord Selborne PhD Scholarship, named after the former Chairman of Rank Prize, is our exciting new scheme to support and encourage the next generation of researchers in vision science.
For the next three years, Sirui will investigate the arrangement of photoreceptor cells in the trichromatic retina, receiving training in techniques from optics, psychophysics and computational modelling.
Sirui will be supervised by Professor Hannah Smithson (University of Oxford).
Sirui reflects on what winning the studentship means to her:
Receiving this scholarship is a tremendous honour. With my background in materials science and my interest in photography, I have always been drawn to imaging technology. This scholarship will support my transition to optoelectronics research for my PhD studies.
I am sincerely grateful to the Rank Prize committee for recognising my potential and believing in my abilities. I am eager and fully confident to pursue my new path.
Sirui Liu, Lord Selbourne Scholar in Optoelectronics, University of Oxford
The next Lord Selborne Scholarship will be offered by the Nutrition committee.
