Symposia held at Storrs Hall, Windermere Venue Participants are accommodated at Storrs Hall, Windermere, Cumbria (http://www.elh.co.uk). For maps of the location of Cumbria within the U.K. click here. Hotel Bills The Funds meet the cost of full board and evening drinks until a specified time. Drinks consumed after that time are the responsibility of participants, as are any other expenses such as telephone calls, laundry etc. Travel Participants should aim to arrive at the hotel during the late afternoon, early evening on the Monday. There will be no formal registration. The sessions commence on Tuesday morning and finish at lunchtime on Thursday. For participants from the U.K. click here For participants from abroad click here Travelling Expenses Details of the expenses met by the Funds are set out in the letter of invitation. Reimbursement for standard class rail fares and petrol used by those travelling by car is made during the course of the meeting. For audit purposes, receipts will be required in support of claims. The Funds do not meet the cost of taxi fares (but see note on travel regarding the journey from Windermere or Oxenholme to Windermere), hire cars or mileage claims. Audio Visual Equipment A screen, data projector, laptop, pointer and flipchart are available. The Funds do not use the services of an audio visual technician so participants must be familiar with the operation of any laptop that they bring with them. Participants must also have some form of back up presentation. If participants have any further requirements, they will need to advise the Funds’ office as far in advance of the meeting as possible. Abstracts/Presentations Abstracts of all of the papers are required before the meeting. They should be up to a side of A4 in length and there is no particular format. Copies will be circulated to all participants at the meeting and all copies are in black and white. It is important that participants do not speak for longer than the time allotted to them, within which provision should be made for the answering of questions on the presentation. Internet Access There is internet access at the hotel. Please note that mobile phone reception can be a problem in Windermere. Leisure Activities Weather permitting, an optional walk is organised so participants should bring sensible footwear if this activity is of interest to them. Walking boots are not essential but the ground can be muddy so that shoes with a good grip are advisable. Participants are welcome to use the leisure facilities at the nearby Low Wood Hotel. Accompanying Guests A charge, the amount of which is shown in the letter of invitation and on the registration forms, will be made which will include all meals and drinks as are available to participants. No formal programme is organised for accompanying guests but details of places to visit, local walks etc. can be obtained from the staff at reception. |
